World Cup Watch party June 18th 5-9pm Mexico Vs. Japan

The global spotlight is on Seattle as our city plays host to the world’s biggest soccer tournament, but the beautiful game cannot happen without the hands that cook, clean, and serve. On Thursday, June 18th, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Eleven:Eleven is opening its doors at 1512 11th Ave for a special World Cup Watch Party centered around community, solidarity, and outstanding street food. This event brings together football fans, labor advocates, and local artists to celebrate cultural heritage while organizing for a fairer, safer city for every worker behind the scenes.

Food is at the heart of this celebration, showcasing a vibrant culinary crossover that mirrors the global spirit of the games. We are thrilled to feature mouth-watering creations from Tacos Cometa alongside the Eleven:Eleven Cafe Special: authentic Korean Street Toast. This unique fusion celebrates both Mexican and South Korean street food traditions, offering attendees an incredible taste experience. To kick things off, free food will be available for the first 30 people through the door, so arriving early is highly recommended. Beyond the food, the evening will be packed with entertainment and interactive community spaces, including video games, live music, an art showcase, and exciting raffles throughout the night.

However, this gathering is about much more than just the score on the screen. As millions of tourists and massive financial investments pour into Seattle for the matches, local workers face the brunt of the pressure. That is why we are proud to stand alongside Working Washington to promote the vital message: No Soccer Without Workers! Major international sporting events frequently lead to an increase in workplace violations, extended hours without proper compensation, and intensified corporate pressure on frontline staff. Through this partnership, we want to ensure that our neighborhood's restaurant, hospitality, and gig workers are fully aware of their legal rights and protected against exploitation.

A central focus of the evening will be Working Washington's ongoing "ICE Out of the Cup" campaign. Host cities across North America are seeing an unprecedented expansion of surveillance, heightened police visibility, and threats of increased Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. This climate creates fear and vulnerability among immigrant communities and undocumented workers who keep our city's hospitality sector running. We believe that everyone should be able to work and live without fear of detention or deportation. During the watch party, attendees can connect directly with organizers to learn about know-your-rights resources, strategic compliance tools, and ways to build a collective defensive network against civil immigration enforcement.

In addition to standing for an ICE-free tournament environment, Working Washington will be providing critical education on how to identify and fight wage theft. In Washington State and the City of Seattle, labor protections—including the mandatory minimum wage, full distribution of tips and service charges, and guaranteed rest periods—strictly apply to all employees regardless of their immigration status. If employers attempt to use the chaotic surge of the tournament to cut corners or withhold fair pay, our community stands ready to respond collaboratively.

Whether you are here for the matches, the delicious tacos and street toast, or to stand up for immigrant justice and labor rights, your presence matters. Let's come together to enjoy the tournament, celebrate our diverse community, and ensure that the legacy of these games leaves Seattle stronger, fairer, and safer for the working class.
