Vol. 008
Playlist for this week is highlighting some of our favorite Reggae musicians and sharing some new discoveries!
From one of our playlist curators Japera Burres:
“not sure if people knew this but my dad, James “ Zulu” Burres, was a drummer, percussionist and vocalist in one of the first Reggae bands in Seattle and the PNW. The band was called Sundance, named after one of the members Earl “Sundance” Sheppard and they toured all around the PNW in the early 80s. My dad was also in a steel drum band called bakra bata in the late 90s and early 2000s based in Seattle that toured for many years along the west coast and US. The photo for the playlist is from one of the bands albums, cause their music had never been digitized thought it would be nice to shout out.”

Hoping to highlight some local Reggae artists in this playlist, we have some amazing musicians in our city and the community is so strong and beautiful here!
